Having Trouble Obtaining a Mortgage Modification?

A mortgage is the largest monthly expense of a typical family, eating up 30 percent or more of monthly take-home pay. If you are financially strapped and you're worried that soon you won't be able to make your mortgage payment, NOW is the time to act. Learn more about mortgage modification and mortgage refinancing options.

New Programs Are Available

The federal government has created a number of programs to help Americans who are struggling to make their house payments or whose homes have lost value and are now worth less than they owe on the mortgage. If you qualify for help through one of these programs, you may be able to lower your mortgage interest rates and your monthly payments. That may be enough to help save your home from foreclosure.

If You Are Current With Your Mortgage and Have Equity

If you have equity in your home but you haven't been able to get your mortgage refinanced or modified, these programs may help you. Again, you must be current on your mortgage payments.

  • HAMP, for employed persons who are struggling financially. NOTE This program has been expanded so if you didn't qualify before or if you used the program before but defaulted, you may qualify to use it again. Ask us.

If You Are Unemployed

You Are Behind on Your Mortgage

If you have already missed payments, you may be facing foreclosure. Earlier this week I received the documents from you relating to discharging my credit card debt. Thank you for your great service, your kindness and the confidence you inspired. Initially, I found the process very upsetting and stressful, but was relieved once the process got started. It was also a comfort knowing that all the legal parts of this situation were being handled by you and your staff. Everyone was easy to work with. Thank you, and have a great fall. - Cindy F.

Without hesitation I will recommend you to my friends. Through bad luck I ended up in a financial situation I never thought I would be in. It was not easy to reach out to a lawyer and look at my options to deal with my debt but it became clear to me that working more hours in my job was never going to get me out of the situation I was in. My situation has turned out better than I could have imagined. I only wish I had done it sooner. - Julio S.
